Well, I’ve changed the name of the blog.
I considered this for a long while. Certainly there is no shortage of parenting blogs out there, and a good friend of mine has a very good one. So I hesitated to follow her lead.
But I realized in talking with my Zen teacher that my family (especially my children) IS my Zen practice. Many of my posts here (some of them favorites) have been about parenting. And my friend’s daughters are adults now while mine are in grade school, which makes the parenting dynamics different enough to where I don’t feel I’m working her side of the street.
Which is not to say I won’t be blogging about other aspects of Zen here. I’m just seeing less of a difference between practicing Zen and being a parent.
So here we are. Yes, I’m still working out what I think “American Zen” is, but it will be a more private, academic pursuit for now. As far as this blog is concerned, it’s now a family practice.
